MIAMI, FLORIDA – TROPICAL PARK
At the 19th Annual Miami International Cattle Show, held at Tropical Park, one of the most memorable moments of the week took place as Carolyn Kass Falgout of Amite, Louisiana, was presented with the Key to Miami-Dade County.
The honor was bestowed by Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, Anthony Rodriguez, in recognition of Falgout’s longstanding commitment to the cattle industry and her instrumental role in helping shape and elevate the Miami International Cattle Show into a premier global event over the past 19 years. Moreno Ranches has played a significant role in the continued growth, vision, and success of the show, helping create a platform that highlights excellence across the industry.
A truly deserving recipient, Falgout’s journey is defined by perseverance, vision, and an unwavering dedication to excellence. From humble beginnings, she has grown into one of the most respected and influential figures in the Brahman breed, making lasting contributions to both the industry and the American Brahman Breeders Association.
Since becoming a member of the ABBA, Falgout has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to learning, leadership, and service. Her involvement has spanned promotional efforts, international marketing initiatives, and decades of leadership, including service on the Board of Directors since the early 1990s. She has served on numerous committees, including Communications, Membership, International, Finance, and the Executive Committee, always guided by integrity and a dedication to advancing the breed.
Falgout’s passion for excellence is reflected in her success as a producer. She is widely recognized for developing some of the most elite Red and Grey Brahman cattle in the United States, earning multiple National and International Championships. Notably, she is the first breeder to achieve “Premier Show Animal of the Year” honors seven times across both bull and female divisions in Red and Grey categories.
Her influence extends globally, with her genetics impacting programs around the world. Many international producers utilizing her genetics have gone on to produce national champions in their respective countries. She currently operates two respected Brahman programs in Louisiana and Mississippi, continuing to set a high standard for quality and performance.
Beyond production, Falgout has played a pivotal role in promoting the Brahman breed through hosting field days, organizing national shows, welcoming international and academic groups, and serving as Co-Chair of the World Brahman Congress in Fort Worth, Texas. Her leadership has helped strengthen the global reach and reputation of American Brahman genetics.
As an ABBA-approved judge, she also broke barriers internationally as the first woman to judge a National Show in Thailand and has served on numerous international panels, sharing her expertise with cattle producers worldwide. Her travels span continents, reinforcing her role as a true global ambassador for the breed.
In addition to her achievements in cattle production, Falgout has expanded into the beef sector with her own branded beef program, producing USDA-inspected, natural Brahman beef, further demonstrating the versatility and value of the breed.
Her recent induction into the ABBA Hall of Fame further solidifies her legacy as one of the most impactful leaders in the history of the Association.
“Ms. Carolyn represents everything that is right about our industry: hard work, dedication, and unwavering ethics,” said Kelvin Moreno, manager of the Miami International Cattle Show. “She is an inspiration to all of us, and I’m proud to call her family and an extended part of this event and everything it stands for.”
The presentation of the Key to Miami-Dade County serves as a powerful tribute not only to Falgout’s accomplishments, but also to her enduring impact on the growth, success, and international recognition of the Miami International Cattle Show.
As the event continues to expand its global footprint, it remains a platform for celebrating leaders like Carolyn Kass Falgout; individuals whose vision, integrity, and passion continue to shape the future of the cattle industry.
