Editor’s Note:
At Moreno Ranches, we believe in the future. Part of that future is superior genetics and the constant improvement of the Brahman cattle breed through sophisticated animal husbandry technology. Technology is part of that future, a passion for the Brahman breed is part of that future, and so are our youth. As such, we’d like to introduce one of our 2023 international interns, Jesús Quintero.
Jesús Manuel Quintero is 22 years old and was born on April 22, 2001, in the city of Chitré. He grew up with his family, dedicated to cattle raising for more than 100 years. From a very young age, he helped his father in farm activities and practiced rodeo in important national events.
At the age of 10 he began to venture into the business, where his father gave him a cow and he was able to carry out other projects, such as raising chickens and quail to sell to his neighbors and friends. He attended primary school at the Ildaura Vieto School in the town of Pesé and at the José Octavio Huerta Almengor School. After finishing his first cycle of studies, he attended high school at the Instituto Coronel Segundo de Villareal, in the province of Los Santos, where he graduated in agriculture and livestock. During high school, he had many beneficial experiences for his career. In 2018, along with his high school classmates, he participated in the Agricultural and Livestock Olympics, where they successfully won first place. Thanks to that triumph, he was able to take many courses and seminars that further enriched his love for the field.
In 2019, he had the opportunity to apply to study his career abroad and obtained a full scholarship to study agronomy at Zamorano University in Honduras, where he is currently studying.
