At Moreno Ranches, we believe in the future. Part of that future is superior genetics and the constant improvement of the Brahman cattle breed through sophisticated animal husbandry technology. Technology is part of that future, a passion for the Brahman breed is part of that future, and so are our youth. As such, we’d like to introduce one of our 2023 international interns, Simón Botero.
Simón Botero Tobón was born on November 18, 1999, in Santa Elena, Medellín, Colombia. Surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. He grew up with a hard-working family, made up of his parents, Albeiro Botero and Gloria Tobón, and his siblings Luis Miguel and Mónica, who taught him values such as honesty and hard work. Their unconditional support and love have been the basis of his life.
His childhood was full of happy moments. He remembers exploring the nearby forest with his friends and enjoying helping to work in the fields. During his school years, he was known for being curious and developing creative skills.
As he grew older, he faced challenges that tested his determination. His family encouraged him to seek opportunities to continue his studies. He managed to enter a university in Colombia where he studied agro-industrial technology for four years, but with the interest to study agronomy and with persistence, he managed to obtain a university scholarship and thus fulfill his dream.
He entered the Zamorano Panamerican Agricultural School in Honduras to study agronomy, following his passion for the countryside and animals. During his university years, he participated in different work modules that provided him with effort, teamwork and decision making. He also participated in different clubs focused on personal development as well as academic strengthening. Finally, during her university career, he developed a research project focused on the area of beef cattle.
Throughout 4 years living abroad, he has learned that resilience and perseverance are fundamental to overcome challenges. He has also learned to appreciate the little things in life and to stay true to his values in every decision he makes. He has realized that every experience, positive or negative, has helped him grow and provided him with valuable lessons.
In the future, he aspires to continue to grow academically and professionally; he wants to have a positive influence on society. In addition, he tries to find a balance between his professional career and his personal life, cultivating meaningful relationships and enjoying every moment.
