Frost, Texas. June 27, 2017. Moreno Ranches, Florida’s top producer of Brahman Cattle for sale, is proud to announce the acquisition of the storied Tic Tac Toe ranch of Frost, Texas. This new acquisition will further solidify the lead of Moreno Ranches as a top Brahman cattle producer in Florida, Texas, and indeed, throughout the whole United States.
“We see this as ‘one family, two locations,’ explained Kelvin Moreno, head of Moreno Ranches. “We are more than excited to welcome Tammie Watts to the M Check team where she will continue at the Texas Tic Tac Toe division and will serve as the ranch manager for Moreno Ranches.”
A STORIED HISTORY AS A TEXAS PRODUCER OF BRAHMAN CATTLE
Tic Tac Toe Ranch currently ranks 4th in total registrations at the ABBA and is rapidly growing. The Moreno Family would like to extend a thank you to the long running and highly esteemed Tic Tac Toe Ranch. They provided the opportunity to invest in their cowherd and secure their ranch as a new location for Moreno Ranches to fit the demand throughout the United States. This investment will enable Moreno Ranches to grow their Gray Brahman Cattle base and rapidly increase their growth in numbers in both Gray and Red Brahman cattle genetics, not just in Florida but also in Texas and throughout the USA.
Tic Tac Toe Ranch has a storied past. Back in 1960, Max Watts had the opportunity to own and run what we all know now as Tic Tac Toe Ranch. In November 1963, Max, Shirley, Stephanie, Debra, and Tammie Watts became a family. From 1963 to 1975, the ranch saw many different breeds of cattle. They started out with Herefords, then went on to purchase a few Brahman bulls from J.D. Hudgins, Inc. to make the F-1 cross, from there they went on to Chianina, Limousin, and finally in 1975 came the Brahmans. But that was only after the three girls purchased their first Brahman heifers from Bob Massey of Koontz Ranch in 1972. From that came Mr. Suva 203 in 1977. Little did they know then that Suva would be the bull to become #1 of all time and change the Brahman breed forever. And most importantly, Suva formed the entire Tic Tac Toe herd that we know today. Tic Tac Toe Ranch has gone on to produce some of the most famous Brahman bulls, including TTT Rambo, TTT 450, and TTT Suva Bob Manso.
Max and Shirley have the “cow sense” that everyone talks about! They knew and know how to breed certain cows to the right bulls, and could tell any person how to halter break, show, and feed any one calf. In 2003 Max and Shirley were recognized at the State Fair of Texas for their continuous participation of 55 years. In 2005 Max was inducted into the Brahman Hall of Fame. And in 2008 Max was unanimously elected Director Emeritus of ABBA. He became a member in 1978 and was a director for 20 years. After the passing of Max Watts in 2008, Shirley went on to keep producing and showing the Brahman Cattle that we all know and love today.
