Editor’s Note:

At Moreno Ranches, we believe in the future. Part of that future is superior genetics and the constant improvement of the Brahman cattle breed through sophisticated animal husbandry technology. Technology is part of that future, a passion for the Brahman breed is part of that future, and so are our youth. As such, we’d like to introduce one of our 2026 international interns, Carlo Palala.

Carlo André Palala Letona was born in Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, Guatemala. At the age of two, he moved with his family to the United States due to his father’s work, where he lived for five years. He later relocated to Canada, spending two additional years before returning to Guatemala. These early international experiences exposed Carlo to diverse cultures and environments, shaping his adaptability, character, and global perspective.

After returning to Guatemala, Carlo developed a strong interest in agriculture and livestock production, influenced by his father, Carlos Eduardo Palala Prieto, a Zamorano graduate from the Class of 1995 with professional experience in rubber tree cultivation and cattle management. This close connection to the agricultural sector inspired Carlo to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in agriculture. Throughout this journey, his mother, Ana Gabriela Letona López, has been a constant source of encouragement, motivating him to work diligently and remain focused on his goals.

Carlo is currently a student at the Pan-American Agricultural School, Zamorano, where he continues to strengthen his technical knowledge and passion for agriculture. He is preparing to complete his internship at Moreno Ranches in Texas, an opportunity he views as essential for gaining hands-on experience and further developing both personally and professionally.

His long-term goal is to manage a cattle operation and establish his own agribusiness, combining the academic foundation gained at Zamorano with the practical experience acquired during his internship. Through this path, Carlo aspires to contribute meaningfully to the growth and advancement of the agricultural sector.
